Atlantic Gardens Veterans Cemetery is in the United States territory of Puerto Rico. The December 10, 1898 Treaty of Paris transferred Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines to the United States control as of December 23 of that year.[1]
This cemetery was dedicated in May 2014, and designed for approximately 23,000 burials.[2] Located in the Montaña ward of Aguadilla, the cemetery is on the Garden of Eden Boulevard.
The cemetery is owned by the Government of Puerto Rico, grant-funded and operated by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), which currently manages 155 national cemeteries.[3][4] In 2016, the VA established the "Pre-Need Determination of Eligibility Program" to assist with advanced planning.[5]
