Andrew LeachmanNZAM (6 April 1945 – 16 September 2017) was a master mariner with more than 55 years of seagoing experience.[1] He captained New Zealand's research vessel Tangaroa for more than 20 years. He was posthumously awarded the New Zealand Antarctic Medal.[2] A species of marine sea cucumber was named in his honour.[3]
