The Mainzer Adelsverein at Biebrich am Rhein (Verein zum Schutze Deutscher Einwanderer in Texas, "Society for the Protection of German Immigrants in Texas"), better known as the Mainzer Adelsverein (German pronunciation:[ˈmaɪ̯nt͡sɐˈaːdəlsfɐˌʔaɪn], "Nobility Society of Mainz"), organized on April 20, 1842, was a colonial attempt to establish a new German settlement[1] within the borders of Texas.[2]
