The Terrapins were members of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium in College Park, Maryland. They were led by fifth-year head coach Rob Vaughn.

Maryland won their first regular season conference title in 51 years, and the Big Ten regular season title for the first time ever.
