The 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix (officially known as the Formula 1 Rolex Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell'Emilia-Romagna 2022) was a Formula One motor race held on 24 April 2022 at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy.[6] It was the first Grand Prix weekend of the 2022 season to utilize the Formula One sprint racing format.[7]
The race was won by Max Verstappen, ahead of Sergio Pérez and Lando Norris in second and third, respectively. It was Red Bull Racing's first 1–2 finish since the 2016 Malaysian Grand Prix,[8] as well as Verstappen's second career grand slam,[9] having started in pole position after winning the sprint race from first position on Saturday, and set the fastest lap while leading every lap of the race he won on Sunday.[10] Championship leader Charles Leclerc finished sixth, while his teammate Carlos Sainz Jr. retired on lap 1 after a collision with Daniel Ricciardo at turn 1.[11] This was the only race in the 2022 season where a driver outside one of the top three constructors achieved a podium.
