The 2014 Kentucky Derby was the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby. The race was scheduled to start at 6:24 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on May 3, 2014, at Churchill Downs and was run as the eleventh race on a racecard with thirteen races.[2] The race was broadcast in the United States on the NBC television network.[3] The attendance for the race was 164,906, the second-largest after the 2012 race with 165,307 spectators.[1][4] The winner was California Chrome.[5]
