Her 2012 autobiography, Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots, tells the story of her escape from an ultra-Orthodox Jewish community in Brooklyn, New York, and was the basis of the 2020 Netflix miniseries Unorthodox.
