Lieutenant Colonel Atnafu Abate (Ge'ez: አጥናፉ አባተ; 31 January 1931 – 12 November 1977)[1][2] was an Ethiopian military officer and a leading member of the Derg, the military junta which deposed Emperor Haile Selassie and ruled the country for several years.
